We’ve worked with Cox on multiple projects for our home from window replacements to a full scale kitchen remodel. We fully plan to work with Cox again for future projects for two reasons: 1) the end product is fantastic. At the end of the day you’re paying for the “after photo” and we’re thrilled with the quality and craftsmanship of the work. Cox will give you work you can truly show off because it not only meets your vision for the project but it exceeds it. 2) Cox is accountable. A lot of home remodeling companies are only on task or on call when they have the sign posted in front of your house taking credit for the project they’re doing. What’s different about Cox is we feel totally comfortable calling them even years later if we had any issues. And more than that we know they’ll be there to resolve the issue usually at no additional cost. Cox isn’t satisfied until you are, and that’s why our family will work with them again.

We hired Cox Construction to rebuild our house after a fire partially damaged our home in 2003. Ed and Emily worked together to help us with our insurance company. They re-built our home, making sure to remove all smoked damaged materials. They built our new home better than the house before the fire, and they had many suggestions for making the house more livable. They were great, so good that we hired them to put a 4-season on our home several years later. They do top notch work, they care about doing things right, they offer good suggestions, and they stand by their work. Complex jobs are no problem for them, and they are so fun to work with that we often think about building a new house with them, except we like the house they built last time, too much to start over! This is a top notch firm. You can trust their quality, and their honesty.

Beautifully sited on Lake Minnetonka but hampered by local hard cover ordinances and its proximity to lakeshore made remodeling our home a challenge. Frustrating meetings with well-recognized Minnetonka builders bringing designs mimicking so many of the new houses around us also ignored our central objectives – open space to the spectacular views, as few walls as possible, large windows and definitely do not make it look like the neighbor’s house. So we asked Ed to look at it. Bringing a simple elevation and a rough plan to our hotel room at the following weekend’s ski race in La Crosse, Wisconsin (our children are together almost every weekend all year at alpine ski races and sailing regattas), it was clear that Ed got what we wanted. We took Ed’s advice to eschew a formal architectural plan and assume a variable budget – we were remodeling after all and things necessarily change as soon as the first hammer swings. The result? Spectacular. All rooms open to the lake, there are but a few necessary walls, the state of the art constant hot water, in floor heat, LED lighting and mechanical systems tucked away in the attic operate at lower costs, no lamps or curtains block any views, fabulous bedrooms and bathrooms and the open kitchen/dinning area/den is where everyone hangs out. It is exactly what we wanted. How many people are so pleased with their remodeling contractor that they become lasting best friends? We did. Is there a better endorsement?
